You'll need a good clean workbench, a seal kit made for the L553 tilt cylinder and some basic hydraulic tools. Start by removing the cylinder from the loader and draining the hydraulic oil, then secure it in a vise with soft jaws so you do not mar the barrel. The gland nut on the L553 cylinder is threaded, so you will want a spanner wrench or a gland nut tool to back it off without damaging the threads. Once you pull the rod assembly out, inspect the piston and rod for scoring or pitting and replace the piston seal, rod seal, backup rings and wipers from the kit. Before reassembly, coat the seals with clean hydraulic oil, check the torque spec on the piston nut, and make sure the gland threads are clean so it will seat fully when you reinstall.
