Are you more inclined to rent a telehandler or do you prefer to own one? What’s your reasoning behind that choice?

I’d go with renting unless it’s used regularly, saves on maintenance and storage while keeping access to newer models.

I generally prefer to rent because it’s less expensive to take care of and I only need it a couple of times a year. But if I were using it on a weekly basis, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

think about the utilization rate. if that machine isn't moving at least 60-70% of the month, you’re just paying for a high end lawn ornament
renting keeps your capital liquid and lets the rental yard deal with the headaches of 1000hr services and hydraulic leaks

I started by renting one thinking I’d just dip my toes in. But I ended up using it so much that buying one would have been more cost-effective in the long run. Rentals are great for those one-off jobs, but nothing compares to the convenience of having your own machine right at your fingertips.

Having a telehandler has been a game changer for my small construction projects. I use it nearly every day so renting would be a hassle. Plus owning one means I know its history and can customize the attachments just the way I like.
