Checking GPS signal before heading out

You’re about to fire up the NH machine, and the last thing you want is any surprises in the field. So, how can you quickly and reliably check GPS signal strength before you start working? Are there any handy tricks, tools, or shortcuts that can help you save some time?

I encountered this issue last spring while getting ready for planting. Now, I just keep a handheld GPS in the cab and do a quick signal check before I start up. If the signal looks good, I can go ahead without worrying about delays later.

I had a tough morning when the signal dropped due to some trees.
Now, I make it a point to check the onboard GPS first, and sometimes I’ll even step outside the cab for a clearer signal before starting the tractor.
It really cuts down on frustration and saves fuel.

I usually walk around the field with my GPS device to check the signal bars and confirm a few waypoints.
It’s quick and straightforward, and it helps avoid that stressful moment of 'why isn’t my guidance working?' once I’m in the tractor.
