You head out into the chilly air, thinking it’ll be a quick task just a bit of shoveling, some clearing, or checking your gear. But before you know it, time slips away, and you find yourself more exhausted than you anticipated.

What’s that one winter chore that always seems to surprise you, and why does it sneak up on you?

Figured a quick sweep of the driveway one morning, but the ice made it take way longer. That thing always gets me.

One winter, I thought I'd check on the tractor for ten minutes. An hour later, I was still at it, trying to thaw lines and tighten bolts. Cold weather maintenance always surprises me.

When I was in Nevada, I went outside to shovel a path before work one day. The snow was heavier than I thought, and I ended up spending almost two hours clearing it. It always gets me because it seems easy at first, but the cold and the weight just make it tiring quickly.
