NH Boomer 40 temp reading wrong

I have a 2015 New Holland Boomer 40 that I use for mowing and light loader work around my property in Missouri. Lately, the temp gauge pegs high right after ignition, even though the engine's barely warm. I already replaced the sensor and checked the harness. Is there a cheaper aftermarket gauge setup that works with this model? I'd rather not spend $400 on a factory cluster if I can test the signal first.
 
You can probably get by with a basic aftermarket temp gauge and sender instead of dropping $400 on a factory cluster, your sensor should give a variable signal, check the wiring/ground, and the sender is in a good spot. For light mowing or loader work, it's usually good enough.

I'll test the signal output this weekend and decide on a gauge by early next week. Do I need to match sender resistance to the aftermarket gauge or will most units auto scale?
 
While some aftermarket gauges can auto-scale, a lot of them still rely on a specific sender resistance range, which is typically either 240–33 ohms or 10–180 ohms. Make sure to check the specs of your sender and match it up to avoid any incorrect readings.

Thanks for clarifying the sender resistance ranges. I’ll check specs before buying so I don’t end up with mismatched parts. Have you found one aftermarket brand that stays accurate longer under regular loader and mowing work?
