I'm hoping you can indulge a question about an older Ford tractor. Given the long history and direct lineage between the Ford tractor division and New Holland, I know much of the expertise for these classic machines now resides right here in this community.
I've had my 1941 Ford 9N since I was in high school and it still works the fencerows and hay fields around my place in Holmes County but the three-point won't hold the hay rake up anymore. I rebuilt the hydraulic cylinder and piston in the top cover a few years ago, so I'm thinking the pump or safety valve is letting fluid past. I'd rather not spend hours on my back in the mud just to pull the pump, especially with my back issues and hands that don't fit well in tight spots. A friend who runs a New Holland skid steer said there are specialty shops that rebuild these old units and can install a beefier PTO shaft while they're at it. Does anyone know a trustworthy rebuilder in the Great Lakes area who's done this kind of work?
