L234 Fuel Gauge not Working. Fault Code 1045

Hello! I have a L234 Wheel Skidloader that the Fuel Gauge is not Working. So it turns the yellow warning light on. Anyone have any info on what could be wrong?
 
The fuel sender unit in the tank is probably failing, as this is a common issue. It might also be related to a wiring problem or a corroded connector at the sender. I recommend checking the connector and wiring first since that’s straightforward. If everything looks fine there, you’ll likely need to replace the sender itself. The warning light is just going off because the faulty sender is giving a low fuel reading.

I dont see a fuse for the Fuel Gauge. Could it be involved with another one? Also....the gauge does move to different amounts of bars showing, so that maybe should tell us it is gettting power. This system.....if I am right, works thru the computer. so it is not just a gauge /sending unit operation. Its runs thru the cam system....which is what senses something wrong, and sends a code, and trips the yellow light to come on
 
If it's running through the CAN system then yeah, the gauge getting power and moving means the display side is fine. The computer is reading a fault from the sender or getting bad data. I'd check for any stored fault codes in the system first might tell you exactly what the CAN bus is seeing from that sender. Could be the sender is intermittent or sending out-of-range values that's triggering the warning. Might also be worth checking the CAN wiring/connectors to the sender since those can corrode and cause communication errors.
 
The cause for fault 1045 is that the instrument cluster has determined that the fuel level sensor resistance has failed high. The resistance of the fuel level sensor is greater than 5,000 Ω.

Wich most likely means that one of these 3 things has failed:


  1. An open circuit in the wiring.



  2. A faulty fuel level sensor.



  3. The instrument cluster has internal failure.
 
Good info, that high resistance reading pretty much narrows it down. I bet it's either a corroded connector or bad sensor before the cluster itself goes bad. OP should definitely check the wiring first since that's the cheap and easy fix.
