After a season of chasing weak signals on my NH tractor I came to the conclusion that height and line-of-sight are everything.
A small magnetic mount on the roof, positioned away from the metal of the cab, along with a little slack in the cable,
keeps everything stable and the signal strong

Used to struggle with clunky antenna mounts until I switched to flexible brackets and zip ties that have a bit of give.
This setup keeps the GPS steady, prevents kinks in the cable, and makes it super easy to adjust if I need to change machines mid-season.

One season, I made the mistake of mounting the GPS under the cab roof what a disaster! It barely picked up any satellites. I switched to a simple roof-mounted plate with foam padding, and just like that, the signal was solid all day. Lesson learned: don’t let looks compromise your reception!
