After dealing with an overheating problem on a lengthy job, I came to the realization that flushing the cooling system isn’t just a 'set it and forget it' task like I once thought.

What’s your go-to routine for taking care of the radiator, choosing the right coolant, and keeping temperatures in check during those long runs?

I used to forget about the radiator until a hot day made me shut everything down. Now, I flush it, check it, and fill up the coolant all the time. Plus, I watch how the fan runs it has saved me from lots of issues.

Learned this the hard way during a summer trenching job when the temperatures shot up quickly. Now, I make it a point to flush the system each season, use the coolant mix recommended by the manufacturer, clean the fins regularly, and check the fan shrouds. It might seem boring, but it means fewer panic shutdowns.

After I overheated a machine halfway through an exhausting grading day, I stopped relying on old coolant. Now, I do an annual flush, use a distilled water mix, pressure-test the cap, and clear any debris daily. It takes time, but it’s better than watching the temperature gauge rise.

Used to overlook the radiator until a long job taught me otherwise.
Now, I schedule regular flushes, maintain the right coolant ratio, clean the screens at every fuel stop, and do a quick hose check.
Nothing complicated just consistent habits that really make a difference.
